Edward Lee Morgan 1943-2014

Ed Morgan left us on July 17th, 2014 from complications due to illness. He was seventy years old.

Ed and Virginia

Born on November 13th, 1943 in Independence, MO to Lee and Ada (Eaton) Morgan, Ed is survived by his lovely adoring wife Virginia “Blueberry” Morgan, his beloved dog Bouche, his children, grandchildren, his best friend Jim, and a multitude of people touched by his art, generosity, and colorful spirit.

Ed was a connoisseur of life. He spent much of his youth on his grandparent’s farm. He was a high school wrestler, Eagle Scout and drummer in the band “The Crescents”. His initial engraving training started at Hallmark and American Greeting Cards. He had a passion for Native American culture, which was reflected in his many artistic pursuits. He created sculptural jewelry, bead and quill work, wood carving, culinary masterpieces, embossed engravings and a beautiful garden. In 1986 he and Virginia opened The Ed Morgan Gallery on Bent Street in Taos NM. His creativity imbued all aspects of his life; the greatest expression of this can be witnessed through his courtship with Virginia, which began with the Twelve Days of Christmas but will last forever. His larger-than-life personality, irreverent reverence and fantastical storytelling will be missed but never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes that you make a donation in Ed’s name to your local art scholarship fund.
